Emmerdale star Claire King has broken her silence on a possible Tate return.
The ITV soap has seen the number of Tates dwindle over time, with Thomas Tate – the son of Gabby Thomas and Jamie Tate – the only other person left in the village with the Tate surname, other than Kim (played by Claire King).
However, Claire has now teased a potential return for one of the Tate family. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: “It would be an interesting spin [to have a new Tate – or an old one return]. I don’t know who they would get out the woodwork, but no doubt there’s some out there. There seem to be many D.i.n.g.l.e.s that keep showing up.”
Fans are convinced this could pave the way for one of the most popular members of the Tate family to show up. With him still having a connection to the village, with Gabby’s son Thomas, could Jamie Tate be coming back?

Speaking earlier this year about a potential return, Alexander Lincoln – who played Jamie – shared: “Honestly, I loved it there and I love everyone there. There’s always the possibility – if they’ll have me – of going back. But right now, I’ve got quite a lot of stuff on and I really want to explore lots of different avenues of work.
“There’s a few other projects coming up over the next couple of years which I’m quite excited about, but we’ll see. I do miss the farm, for sure! I miss my on-screen mum [Claire King, who plays Kim Tate] and everyone else! Coming back would mean going back with a bang for sure, if they would have me. I’m always very excited about the possibility of going back at some point.”
It comes ahead of a brand new Sugden arriving in the village – as Oliver Farnworth has been cast as the mysterious John Sugden. Speaking about the new character, producer Laura Shaw revealed: “We are thrilled to have an actor with Oliver’s talent and presence join the Emmerdale family. The Sugden’s have always been central to Emmerdale, and introducing a new member opens up exciting possibilities for future storylines. Mysterious John’s arrival will no doubt create a stir in the village for Victoria and the community.”
Oliver added: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that. I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”
