EastEnders star Dean Gaffney admits he is still haunted by his mother’s passing at home but hasn’t done anything to address the situation

EastEnders star Dean Gaffney said he’ll be “haunted forever” as he recalled the tragic moment he found his mother dead at home.

The 46-year-old EastEnders star’s mother Marian died one year ago today, with the actor first announcing the tragic news on social media with pictures of her. He was ‘simply broken’ and said at the time: “I was, am and always will be a mummy’s boy so this news has completely floored me.”

Since then, he only used his Instagram grid to share images and tributes to his mother. On Monday, he posted a snap of Marian posing for the camera and shared a few details on the horrific moment he found his mother dead at home when he went to pick her up for their weekly Sunday roast.

“So, a year ago today, the worst thing happened to me. Whilst it’s the one inevitable thing in life losing a parent, when it happens, oh wow,” he said. “Nothing prepared me for going to pick my mum up for a routine Sunday roast and finding her passed away. What I saw shall remain private, but it will haunt me forever.

“Sudden heart attacks are a thing. One day you can be here, the next gone, literally simple as that. I am not one to share my grief on social media. However, I just wanted to say it’s been a tough year for me and maybe I’ve done things uncharacteristically. Grief hits in many ways.”

He continued in the emotional post: “Mum, the legacy you have left behind is what gets me out of bed every day. You touched people’s hearts and you were selfless to the end. We will raise a glass to you today. I love and miss you today, tomorrow and forever.”

His friends rushed to the comment section to share their love and support for the actor, with Scott Thomas writing: “Love you brother!
