EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (August 14),

EastEnders has aired a tense cliffhanger involving Cindy Beale and Junior Knight in the show’s latest episode.

The pair are currently having an affair and have recently gone to great lengths to keep their secret under wraps.

This week, Junior offered Peter a job so that he can keep an eye on him as he has become suspicious, but this decision angered Cindy.

In today’s episode, Junior came round with a bottle of wine and apologised for his actions, saying that their “bit of fun” shouldn’t get in the way of business and family.

But Cindy insisted that it wasn’t as simple as that, and her comments about getting entangled implied that she might be forming feelings for Junior.

Junior invited Cindy to his place that evening before they were almost caught by Peter, and Junior gave him some reading for his new job.

Later, Cindy got herself glammed up and texted Junior to tell him that he should expect a visitor.

Sure enough, Junior did get a visitor – but while he assumed it would be Cindy, it was Gina who entered his flat.

Earlier, Gina had been kicked out of The Vic by Johnny, who blamed her for what had happened to Linda, so she arrived at her brother’s flat and asked to move in.

Junior tried to convince her that he would be a rubbish flatmate, but Gina insisted it would be fun and wanted a chance to get to know her brother.

Scared that Cindy might arrive at any minute, Junior rejected Gina firmly and she left, upset with her brother.

Cindy and Junior later enjoyed a flirty glass of wine but Junior was distracted, and he told Cindy about what happened with Gina.

She was annoyed about the situation – Gina is Cindy’s daughter and Junior’s half-sister, after all – but the couple soon made up.

Meanwhile, George spotted Gina packing up her things at The Vic, and he found out that Junior wasn’t keen on having her as a flatmate and that he refused to help her.

Cindy and Junior were cuddled up in bed, when they were interrupted by a knock on the door from George, who wanted to know why Junior rejected Gina.

Spotting Cindy’s heels on the floor, George realised that Junior had company. With Cindy hidden in the bedroom, will George find out the truth about his son and his ex-wife?
