EastEnders’ Sonia Fowler could be set for a shock affair with a Walford resident.
The soap legend (Natalie Cassidy) has had a dramatic few months recently. Sonia and partner Reiss Colwell (Reiss Colwell) have been trying to conceive through IVF after Reiss revealed that he couldn’t conceive naturally.
Their last attempt ended in heartbreak when Sonia found out she had a blighted ovum, meaning the egg hadn’t developed into a foetus. The pair have since tried again, and this week, Sonia found out she was pregnant.
However, Reiss has become overwhelmed in recent weeks with stresses surrounding money. As fans will recall, Reiss is married to Debbie, who is hospitalised in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke in the bath.
And during Wednesday’s episode (July 24) Sonia confided in ex Martin Fowler (James Bye) about their money troubles.
But it was a rather cheeky comment that got plenty of tongues wagging – with viewers certain a shock affair could be on the cards. Sonia and Martin were previously married back in the 2000s and the pair share a daughter, Bex Fowler.
Unloading his van, Martin told Sonia how he was nearly finished for the day. He then quipped: “If you fancy a rendezvous.” Sonia laughed off the comment, but viewers online had a lot to say.
Over on a Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “I’m very excited at the prospect of Martin getting involved in this Sonia/Reiss storyline. But can she just cheat on Reiss with Martin already?”
A second added: “After Martin’s rendezvous comment I feel a Martin and Sonia affair is looming.” While a third penned: “Hoping for a lot of Martin involvement, I can see romance blossoming again between him and Sonia though.”
