After covering up Keanu Taylor’s murder, The Six appear to finally be in the clear after Dean Wicks was charged with the crime.
But as Dean’s trial approaches, Linda Carter has been struggling, and this week she was offered a deal by his associate Fraser: retract her witness statement and he will confess to her rape.
While Johnny insisted that it was a bad idea that could reopen the case, Linda wanted Dean out of her life for good and decided that she would take the deal.
In today’s episode, which airs on BBC Two tonight, Linda explained herself to Johnny, and while he warned his mum that Dean won’t necessarily stick to his word, she remained firm.
He suggested that Sharon could go down for murder, but Linda told Johnny that Jack had said they could still prosecute Dean on other evidence.
Johnny told Denise and Sharon that Linda was going to pull her witness statement and filled them in on what Jack said, which left them angry with him.
Frightened about what was at stake for her, Sharon decided to speak to Linda and urged her not to withdraw her statement.
She explained the deal that was offered to her, but Sharon said her alcoholism won’t be fixed by Dean admitting what he did.
Linda was still set on her decision, so Sharon was left with no choice but to tell Phil, who in turn threatened Linda and said that things would turn nasty if Sharon ended up facing prison.
Despite all this, Linda met up with Fraser at Peggy’s to accept the deal, and when she went to the bar, Fraser took a phone call and confirmed that the deal was done.
But shortly after, Jack arrived and arrested Fraser for blackmail and perverting the course of justice, with Johnny having given him a heads-up about what Linda was doing.
Linda was furious with her son, saying she didn’t need his help, and Johnny and Elaine later expressed concern about Linda and her kids.
While locking up at The Vic, Linda spotted an envelope addressed to her on the bar, and she opened a letter which said: “I know what you did at Christmas. Liar!”
With Linda left horrified by the letter, who sent it and who knows about what happened on Christmas Day?
