Coronation Street fans think they have worked out Cassie Plummer’s plan for Ken Barlow – but others thing he could end up calling her bluff in a soap-style twist.
It’s been over a year since the daughter of Evelyn Plummer arrived on the cobbles and revealed herself as ITV soap stalwart Tyrone Dobb’s real mum.
After vowing to her new-found family to stay clean, Cassie quickly found herself with a job at the garage.
However, her meddling in Kevin and Abi Webster saw her lose her job – despite her being found not to be responsible for the shocking deep fake porn videos of Abi.
More recently, Cassie has found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street having become Ken Barlow’s carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis.
She’s often found winding up Steve McDonald, despite the tease of a possible new romance between the pair.
The pair were seen bickering in front of Ken during the latest Corrie episode on Wednesday night (August 14).
Ken despaired and ordered them both out. Cassie then told Steve that she was fed up with all the squabbling and was quitting. However, she later returned to No.1 and overheard Ken on the phone.
The iconic character was heard calling someone called Nigel in the hope of booking a meeting to get some financial advice. Ken revealed he had come into some money after a big win, and he wanted guidance on how best to store the money.
He was heard saying that he’d won £50,000 after his numbers came up in a premium bond draw. As he did, Cassie walked into the house and heard the whole conversation and was now aware that Ken was now a whopping £50k richer.
She then slammed the door to make it seem she’d just arrived and missed Ken’s all-important call and was quick to ask him if he had any news about anything and he said nothing, not wanting her to know. Cassie then walked into the kitchen and was seen smirking and the pound signs in her eyes were almost evident.
And Corrie fans were quick to assume Cassie’s next move. One said: “#Corrie Thought Cassie was boringly becoming a model citizen, caring for Ken but … She was about to resign when she overhears Ken on the phone saying he’s won £50k on the Premium Bonds It looks like she is plotting something to get her hands on his money. Excellent twist!!”
Another commented: “I enjoyed Corrie tonight. Watch out Ken. Cassie is after your money…” A third wrote: “Please gosh, don’t tell me Cassie is gonna swindle Ken, cause we do not need this!! Get out while you can Ken” Another posted: “Cassie getting ready to bleed Ken dry #Corrie.” A fan added: “uh oh cue Cassie doing god knows what to get her hands on Ken’s 50k. #Corrie.”
However, Ken too pulled a face after Cassie left the room, leading some Corrie fans to think he may know exactly what he’s doing. One said: “I think Ken heard Cassie opening the door and pretend he’s talking to someone about a £50K winning #Corrie.” Another shared: “Think he’s not won 50 grand he’s up to something.” A third added: “Ken is gonna play her.”
