Coronation Street’s Tracy McDonald makes a return to Weatherfield next week.

Tracy heads back to the cobbles after five months away in Spain with her new boyfriend Tommy Orpington.

The long-running character’s reappearance comes just as her estranged husband Steve is getting caught up in a potential love triangle.

Viewers have seen Cassie Plummer start to develop feelings for Steve after enjoying his company in recent weeks.

Next week, Cassie is delighted when Steve invites her to enjoy an evening of classical music in the park with him.

Cassie gets excited for the night ahead and turns up to No. 1 looking glamorous. 

However, Steve breaks the bad news that Cassie will now be going with Ken, as he has made alternative plans with Demi, the woman he was dating recently.

Steve’s thoughtless behaviour sparks a rift with Cassie, much to Ken’s frustration.

When Ken gets fed up with the pair bickering at No. 1, he orders them both out so he can get some peace.

Cassie tells Steve that Ken is right and she’s sick of all the arguing. She vows to quit as Ken’s carer but changes her mind when she returns to No. 1 and overhears Ken having an intriguing phone conversation.

Later in the week, Tracy returns and is unhappy to find out that Ken has employed Cassie as his carer following the nasty accident he suffered at home. Cassie is offended by Tracy’s harsh judgement.

Tracy adds that she’s only back to see her daughter Amy, but Ken senses there may be more to it. Why has Tracy returned? And will her presence affect Steve’s ongoing connections with Cassie and Demi?

Coronation Street airs Tracy’s return on Friday, August 16.
