Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby is left in turmoil next week, as she receives an unexpected phone call.
A new preview clip shows the character visibly reeling as she learns some worrying news, ahead of an abrupt exit on the ITV soap.
The teaser for the clip doesn’t give away what is said on the call, while the clip itself hints that it is linked to her sister Toyah Battersby.
Leanne answers the call that is seemingly from her husband Nick Tilsley, as she’s heard asking if her sister Toyah is okay.
But within seconds her face drops and she seems emotional, fighting back tears as she learns some alarming news.
As Aadi Alahan asks her if she’s okay, she ends the call but says nothing – just having told Nick she will be there right away. So what has happened, and will Toyah be okay?
Other spoilers for looming episodes have confirmed Toyah heads to the hospital to have surgery, following her ovarian cancer diagnosis.
Leanne has been distant from Toyah recently, but can she finally be there for her sister in her time of need?
According to spoilers, Toyah is there with Nick who supports his sister-in-law before a shock confession amid their recent fling. Toyah ends up suffering from complications and is in a bad way, and it seems that this is what Nick tells Leanne.
He tells her what has happened, likely advising her to get to the hospital as soon as she can. It’s clear from her reaction to the phone call that she does love her sister and wants to be there for her, amid villain Rowan Cunliffe driving them apart.
Later in the week there’s a possible exit twist for Leanne, as Rowan loses his grip on her it seems. Leanne is given the opportunity to visit her stepson Simon Barlow, who left the show for good recently.
Leanne is left torn over this knowing Rowan is keen for her to help with his ‘institute’ – while she still has no idea he’s scamming her. it seems Leanne does take some time away from the Cobbles, but will she face trouble from Rowan?
