After a pregnancy test Toyah took was flagged as being a false positive, she was informed that she may have ovarian cancer.

And that the doctors would need to do further tests to find out.

Toyah then had a scan, which revealed that she had germ cell ovarian cancer.

The doctor explained that she would need to undergo an operation, and that she may also need chemotherapy afterwards.

Though Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) had accompanied her to the hospital to get her results.

Toyah later told him and sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) that she was going to go to the rest of her appointments alone.

As she wanted them to focus on repairing their relationship.

Unfortunately, Leanne – who’s outlook on life has been twisted by her involvement in Rowan Cunliffe’s (Emrhys Cooper) cult The Institute – took her sentiments very literally, and later asserted that she was going to withdraw emotionally and actively disconnect from Toyah whilst she was receiving treatment.

In upcoming scenes, Rowan assures Leanne that she has made the right decision in putting herself before her sister, even in her time of need.

Nick, on the other hand, is mortified by Leanne’s behaviour, and takes it upon himself to be there to support Toyah ahead of her operation.

Because of this, it is Nick that the consultant is forced to approach with news of Toyah’s condition.

Horrified Nick is soon on the phone to Leanne, insisting that she must get to the hospital as soon as possible, as Toyah has suffered complications.

Later, when Rowan attempts to talk to Leanne about Amy Barlow, who had been looking to invest her inheritance in The Institute’s new resource centre, she brushes him off, insisting that she doesn’t have time for the discussion as she’s off to visit Toyah.

This leaves Rowan frightened that he’s losing his grip on Leanne, and later he contacts Nick demanding his £20k investment in exchange for keeping quiet about his affair with Toyah.

Little does he know, Nick has already confided that he loves Toyah, and plans to break the news to Leanne. Will he go through with it and break her heart? And will Toyah pull through from her operation, or will his admission be for nothing?
