Some Coronation Street viewers think Ken Barlow is setting up carer Cassie Plummer after a money twist.
The character made a secret phone call to a man named Nigel during Wednesday’s episode, revealing he’d won a lot of money. But with Cassie appearing to overhear this with a possible plan in mind, some fans think Ken is up to something.
After months of fans speculating over Cassie’s intentions for Ken, she appeared to “show her true colours” after hearing about his big win. But might Ken have been expecting her reaction, and might he be one step ahead of her?
Ken said he had won a huge £50,000 after his numbers came up in a premium bond draw. Cassie walked into the house just as Ken made the call and detailed how he was £50k richer.
Cassie was shown listening in while pretending she wasn’t there, later slamming the door to make it seem like she’d only just walked through the door. She then asked Ken how he was and if he had anything new to discuss, but Ken said no.
He was hiding his news from her it seemed, before Cassie walked into the kitchen and appeared to smirk about Ken’s win. But some fans are convinced Ken was up to something, after he appeared to pull a face after Cassie walked away.
Viewers think Ken knew Cassie was at the door and about to return home, and that he was setting her up with the money win claim. Could Ken have made it up to test Cassie to see if she would try and steal from him, or maybe even to get her to stay on as his carer?
One fan posted on social media: “Wondering if Ken is testing Carrie?” Another agreed: “Think he’s not won 50 grand he’s up to something,” as a third said: “Ken is gonna play her.”
A further comment read: “He’s going to test her to see if she will rinse him,” as another viewer posted: “He is up to something Ken!” It comes ahead of Ken’s daughter Tracy Barlow making her comeback at the end of the week!
