Coronation Street fans have feared DS Lisa Swain’s death has been foreshadowed in fresh scenes. 

Actress Vicky Myers has only recently been made a full-time cast member in the role having first appeared on the cobbles a few years ago.

The detective sergeant was first seen in the ITV soap back in 2021 when she led the police investigation into the assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin.

Which led to the latter’s death.

But more recently, Swain has been seen trying to get to the bottom of Lauren Bolton’s disappearance – and presumed death.

Before her shock return to Weatherfield after five months in July.

During the latest trip to the cobbles on Monday night (August 5), Swain inadvertently learned that Lauren had given birth. 

The teen welcomed her son prematurely into the world after Joel Deering, who was really behind her disappearance after leaving her for dead, drugged her in a bid to force a miscarriage.

During the episode, a distraught Lauren watched on as her baby boy lay in an incubator, willing for him to get better. She was supported by Max and Bobby Crawford but as soon as they had gone, Joel arrived and was able to meet his newborn son.

He quickly started manipulating Lauren into deleting an email she had scheduled to send to Swain, exposing the solicitor for who he really is. He brought her a new phone and attempted to talk her around, which seemed to work as she let them see their son before going on the phone and telling him the email had been deleted.

Things then got emotional when Lauren revealed she had decided to name her son Francis, in a tribute to her grandfather, prompting Joel to reveal his own grandfather had the same name, leaving him bursting into tears when out of Lauren’s sight, only for Dee-Dee to show up.

Later, DS Swain turned up at the hospital to get to the bottom of the baby’s paternity. The detective wanted to run a DNA test to prove Nathan Curtis was the dad after Bethany Platt’s former abuser was set-up over Lauren’s disappearance by newcomer Kit Green and Joel.

DS Swain subsequently arranged a meeting with Joel where she asked for his help in convincing Lauren to take a DNA test. But Joel’s day got only got worse when Betsy Swain reminded him he still owed her money for throwing her out of his car in the middle of a rough estate.

And the evil solicitor was left horrified to see Betsy getting into Swain’s car and the penny seemingly dropped about them being mother and daughter.

But it was a conversation Swain had in which she spoke about knowing what it’s like to welcome a baby prematurely into the world before she said she’d ‘take a bullet’ for her daughter. It led to some wondering whether Joel’s downfall could lead to Swain being in mortal peril.

Alongside a clip of the scene, @natlrw asked: “Foreshadowing herself getting shot?” @c_and_p_forever replied: “I was thinking this. Scared now lol.” @Kirsty585 posted: “Starting a petition to make sure Lisa is wearing a bulletproof vest at all times. Who’s in??” @PinkWyldflower added: “So Joel finds out Betsy is DI Swain’s daughter the same day she tells him she’d take a bullet for her???!!?!? #Corrie.”

Others, meanwhile, hope Swain is ready to take Joel down. @tajm_x said: “Come on Swain, do the hard sums and get Joel already #Corrie.” @qoldmagic shared: “Can’t wait for swain & co to take down joel #corrie.” @Sjl170 added: “Haha Joel’s face when that realisation hit, hope Swain takes him down #Corrie.”
