Coronation Street enthusiasts are convinced that Dee-Dee Bailey is onto Joel Deering’s sinister secrets.
Joel Deering, portrayed by Callum Lill, initially appeared on the scene as a seemingly decent chap last year.
However, his disturbing nature has been unveiled over recent storylines. It was disclosed that he orchestrated the vanishing of Lauren Bolton, played by Cait Fitton.
After stepping in to assist Lauren with her financial woes, Joel manipulated her into an intimate relationship.
The situation escalated when he violently attacked her, leaving her unconscious, after she brought up his fiancee Dee-Dee’s name during a row.
Lauren had been absent from Weatherfield for some time but made a shocking return, informing Joel she was expecting his baby.
In a bid to keep her quiet, Joel offered her accommodation in his previous apartment, reports the Express.
He also vowed to finance her move to Ireland for a fresh start, disclosing that she was set to depart on August 12, giving him three weeks to arrange everything.
Yet, Joel’s true intentions came to light when he was caught searching online for “What drugs can induce premature labour?” Subsequently, he administered the drugs to Lauren, triggering an early onset of labour.
In the episode aired on Monday (August 5), viewers saw Lauren hospitalised with her newborn son in an incubator. Joel and Dee-Dee paid her a visit after Dee-Dee suggested they see how Lauren was faring.
Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that Dee-Dee might be clued in on her fiance’s dark secrets. On the Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers have noticed Dee-Dee’s growing interest in Lauren and suspect she might be onto something.
One fan commented: “Why is Dee Dee so invested in Lauren all of a sudden? ” sparking a reply from another who suggested: “She suspects something.”
Another theorised: “She might know and will announce it at the altar when they are due to get married. That’s what they seem to do in soaps,” while a different viewer asserted: “She knows there’s something else to it. Wouldn’t surprise me if she knew everything about Joel.”
