Coronation Street’s Hope Stape could be set for more trouble on the ITV soap, as she’s faced with former stepmother Alina Pop.

Actress Ruxandra Porojnicu is reprising her role on the show in scenes that air next week, three years on from her dramatic exit from the cobbles. 

Hope was part of the reason Alina left, after the teen’s vendetta against Alina led to tragic scenes.

Actress Ruxandra spoke exclusively to The Mirror about her comeback, and her dreaded reunion with Hope after their dark scenes together in 2021. 

Hope targeted Alina after her father Tyrone Dobbs ditched her mother Fiz Brown for Alina.

But when the romance broke down thanks to Hope’s meddling and Tyrone wanting to get back with Fiz, 

Alina fled to Romania. Prior to this she sadly suffered a miscarriage after a fire that was deliberately started by Hope.

Alina has not seen Hope since she left three years ago, but the pair are set to reunite in “difficult” scenes. Alina actress Ruxandra hinted at old wounds being reopened, as the trauma of what happened when Alina was last in Weatherfield resurfaces.

Spoilers for next week’s episodes reveal that Fiz is left floored when she bumps into husband Tyrone’s ex Alina in Fresco’s car park. Alina explains she’s been called as a witness in a trial but will Fiz tell Tyrone about her encounter?

Meanwhile, later at the cab office, Tyrone’s mum Cassie Plummer’s eyes widen as she sees a customer’s name on an airport booking. Taking Steve’s cab, she helps Alina into the car before driving her straight to Weatherfield to see Tyrone. Alina is left furious over being conned.

So is this the moment she comes face-to-face with Hope? With Hope seemingly growing up and putting her villainous antics behind her, Ruxandra hinted to us that we might not have seen the last of scary Hope.

Teasing the reunion, she told us: “I think it will be difficult for Alina to see Hope. With her being so young [at the time] they never had a conversation where the cards were put onto the table. There’s a big wound related to Hope, she caused the wound.

“It’s hard for Alina to be around Hope but she is trying her best because she knows it’s Tyrone’s child, and he loves her so much. She is trying her best.”
