Joel Deering (played by Callum Lill), who first appeared on the Street as a seemingly decent bloke, has been unmasked as a twisted solicitor in recent storylines. The plot thickened when it was disclosed that he was responsible for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) vanishing act.
After initially coming to Lauren’s aid with her financial woes, Joel manipulated her into a s.e.x.u.a.l relationship before leaving her for dead with a brutal head injury during a row where she mentioned his fiancee Dee-Dee’s name.
Lauren, who had been missing for months, made a shocking return to Weatherfield, dropping the bombshell on Joel that she was carrying his baby. In a bid to keep her quiet, Joel offered her a place in his old flat and even promised to fund her fresh start in Ireland, setting her departure for August 12 and giving himself three weeks to get things in order.
But Joel’s true intentions came to light when he was caught googling “What drugs can induce premature labour?” on his laptop. True to his sinister plan, he gave Lauren the drugs, triggering an early labour, reports the Express.
