The character has had a turbulent time on the cobbles of late, despite only returning on New Year’s Eve following a three year break.
Upon her arrival it became immediately clear that she was struggling for work in the journalism world, and would go above and beyond to find her first big Weatherfield scoop.
This involved quizzing Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) over Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) affair with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) following his acid attack.
Bethany then became entwined in Lauren’s subsequent disappearance, and became convinced that her abuser Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) was responsible.
As viewers know, dodgy solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) is the real culprit.
Alongside Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) she managed to track the teen down to an abandoned pub in Warrington.
And clearly won’t settle until she sees Nathan behind bars once again.
An upcoming story will soon see her become increasingly insecure about her appearance and decide to jet off abroad for surgery.
A source told Metro.co.uk: ‘This is a huge story for Bethany, and viewers will see her travel to a foreign clinic for cosmetic surgery. As with a lot of these unregulated procedures, it doesn’t exactly go to plan.’
Cosmetic tourism has hit the headlines in recent years with boob jobs, gastric bands, facelifts and ‘Turkey teeth’ surgeries becoming popular amongst Brits, who find it cheaper than paying privately in the UK.
The NHS website advises ‘weighing up potential savings against the potential risks’ as ‘safety standards may not be as high.’
The Platt family look set to be at centre stage for the next few months, as Bethany’s grandmother Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) is to leave the cobbles after 50 years.
As part of the exit storyline, Gail’s ex-husband Martin Platt (Sean Wilson) will return after six years.
Just how she leaves remains to be seen, as soap bosses are keeping tight-lipped. However, we do know that her Christmas departure will be a happy one.
