‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that GH fans are outraged over the show’s decision to axe Kelly Monaco from the cast. Monaco has played the role of Sam McCall since October 2003.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Show Is Planning To Kill Off Sam McCall

There are plans in place to kill Sam off, and some fans are threatening to tune out. There is also a petition on the site change.org. To “Keep Kelly Monaco, aka Sam, on General Hospital.”

Fans are clamoring to save Kelly’s job, as many are upset that the show is treating a veteran actress this way.

Most of those fans are huge Sam fans and don’t want to see one of their favorite heroines killed off the soap. Sam would also leave behind two young children, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinante).

Not to mention, the Davis family has been through enough lately. This isn’t the first time GH viewers have been in an uproar over the termination of a popular character.

In January 2011, GH fired Rebecca Herbst, who plays Elizabeth Baldwin. Fans frantically took to social media to halt Becky’s exit. And it worked like a charm. Rebecca and Liz were spared from soap exile.

In 2016, there was concern that Rebecca would no longer be part of the show when contract negotiations were stalled.

The actress contemplated moving to Days of Our Lives, but thankfully, enduring fan support made it possible for Becky to remain on the show. She was promptly offered a fresh contract, and the rest is history.

In 2012, GH was about to get canceled when viewers of their beloved soap united through petitions and protests to prevent the daytime drama from going to the grave like All My Children and One Live To Live already had.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Kelly’s Fans Are Going To Bat For Her

Kelly’s fans want to do the same thing for her. On Monday, after the news of Kelly’s firing hit, one very perturbed fan, Holly Vierregger, started the above petition to save Sam.

In less than 24 hours, well over 2,000 people have signed the Hail Mary plea. Fans also voice their very strong opinions on social media about Kelly being fired from the show.

On X, fans slammed executive producer Frank Valentini, posting this message, “Imagine if Kelly Monaco is rehired and Frank fired. Poetic justice.”

Another person exclaimed, “Kelly Monaco did NOTHING to deserve this, and that’s all I’m gonna say about it.”

Another said,

“Kelly Monaco has been disrespected by Frank, Varni, and their writers for years. Constantly sidelined, and why? It’s not like Sam has ever struggled for material.”

Someone wrote,

“The amount of disrespect Kelly Monaco and many of the women cast of Port Charles get is ridiculous. This is awful. Sam is one of the best characters, and the disservice the writers have given the character is why this ship is sailing. Make this right!”

The actress is sad to have been “blindsided” by the show’s decision to kill off Sam. The powers that be should be taken seriously. We hope fans’ outcry, outraged social media posts, and petitions work in her favor.
