EastEnders aired a sad death twist on Monday night that left one character in pieces.

A Walford resident was forced to confess the truth about the disappearance of a relative, following a huge discovery. 

It resulted in one fan favourite finding out about a tragedy, leaving them coming to terms with their devastating loss.

Ahead of an exit twist on the BBC soap, Stevie Mitchell was revealed to be hiding a dark family secret for decades. 

Just weeks on from him reconnecting with estranged son Billy Mitchell, he revealed news of a sad death leaving Billy in turmoil.

Only recently, Billy’s world was turned upside down after learning that his estranged dad had a secret family. 

Billy was left floored last week when he met secret brother, Teddy Mitchell, and his two nephews Harry and Barney.

It soon became clear that there were still secrets to be revealed as Teddy asked Stevie why he was lying, warning that the truth will come out. On Monday it all came to light, as Phil Mitchell set out to expose what Stevie was up to.

Soon enough he found some mystery evidence, just as Billy threw dad Stevie a birthday party. Billy did a speech where he mentioned it was also his missing mother’s birthday too, with him wondering where she was.

As Phil spoke privately with Stevie, he claimed to have evidence and told him he needed to tell Billy the truth or he would. Back at the house, Stevie showed Billy a birthday card addressed to his mum.

Billy questioned if this meant Stevie knew her whereabouts, after she apparently walked out on them when Billy was just nine years old. Stevie then dropped the devastating news that his ex-wife had died, and she’d died decades ago.

Billy was shellshocked, as he learned his mother had been dead for decades and his dad knew all along. Stevie claimed that shortly after his mother walked out on them all she passed away, while he did not reveal how.

It’s then that Billy demanded answers, asking why he’d kept the truth from him for so long. With that came the next shocking bombshell, as Stevie claimed: “Because it was all down to me. It was my fault.” But what did Stevie do?
