CRAIG Tinker makes a shock enemy of newcomer Kit Green in Coronation Street – but how much danger is he in?
Kit – played by Jacob Roberts – arrived in Weatherfield a few weeks ago after estranged mum Bernie Winter went looking for him.
So far, the policeman has revealed himself to be a bit dubious, having helped frame Nathan Curtis for Lauren Bolton’s disappearance.
He also set up Bernie and imploded her relationship with her other kids Gemma and Paul after he revealed all about how she had abandoned him as a baby.
But in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, Craig confides in mum Beth that he’s worried he’s made an enemy of Kit and tells her about the shoplifting incident with Gemma.
Viewers will recall how Bernie asked Kit to help get Gemma out of trouble after she was arrested for shoplifting a pair of shoes for daughter Carys.
Gemma had no idea who Kit was at the time, but he agreed to help and blackmailed the store manager into dropping the issue.
Craig had been called to the store, but with Kit having just been in the vicinity, he took over, which his colleague was suspicious of.
But considering what Kit has had no qualms about doing so far, is Craig in trouble if he has got on the wrong side of him?
Jacob previously opened up about Kit, saying: “I do think he is going to be a very misunderstood character at first.
“He’s been really hurt throughout his life and although he has a good heart, he has some deep-rooted resentment with his biological mum, which will be really interesting to play out.”
Despite Kit’s issues with Bernie, thankfully Jacob immediately hit it off with Jane Hazlegrove, who plays his on-screen mum.
He added: “Jane has been absolutely amazing! I get Jane’s humour and she gets mine, so it has never been awkward.
“She instantly took on a motherly role to me and really took me under her wing.
“When I first started she showed me where everything was and let me know the ins and outs of Coronation Street.
“If I’ve had any questions, I would go to Jane, so she has just been great with me.”
Kit Green has certainly made a big impact since arriving in Weatherfield on Coronation Street. Played by Jacob Roberts, Kit has already caused quite a stir by revealing his true identity to Gemma and Paul, which ultimately led to some major drama in Bernie’s life.
Not only has Kit helped Gemma get out of trouble with shoplifting, but he has also shown a willingness to engage in dubious actions, such as framing Nathan Curtis for Lauren Bolton’s disappearance. This has raised some concerns for Craig Tinker, who confides in his mum Beth about his worries of having made an enemy out of Kit.
With Kit’s complex backstory and deep-rooted resentment towards his biological mum Bernie, it’s clear that he is a character with layers. Jacob Roberts himself has hinted at Kit being a misunderstood character, suggesting that there is more to his motives than meets the eye.
Despite the tension between Kit and Bernie on screen, Jacob Roberts has only positive things to say about his co-star Jane Hazlegrove, who plays his on-screen mother. Their off-screen relationship has been supportive and nurturing, with Jane taking Jacob under her wing and guiding him through his experience on Coronation Street.
As Craig navigates the potential dangers of being on Kit’s bad side, viewers will have to wait and see how this storyline unfolds. With tensions rising and secrets being revealed, it’s clear that there is more drama to come in Weatherfield.
