EastEnders Confirms Sharon’s Prison Showdown as Legend Makes a Surprise Return

Chrissy Watts is back on EastEnders, but not in the way many fans expected. The legendary 2000s character made her long-awaited return to the B.B.C. soap at the end of Thursday’s episode, marking the next chapter in the ongoing “Six” storyline. However, instead of returning to Albert Square, Chrissy will reunite with Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) in prison.

Sharon was arrested earlier this week for contempt of court after losing her temper in the witness box during Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) m.u.r.d.e.r trial. She accused the judge of shaming her. The truth about the “Six” has since started to unravel, with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) confessing to her role in Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) m.u.r.d.e.r to his sister Bernie. Sharon, meanwhile, faces a week in prison for her courtroom outburst, and a visit from Phil Mitchell’s lawyer, Ritchie Scott, failed to clear her of the charges.

Once in prison, Sharon is shown to her cell, unaware that Chrissy, who was sentenced for the m.u.r.d.e.r of Sharon’s father, Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) in 2005, is in the cell next door. Chrissy famously bludgeoned her ex-husband Den to death in the Queen Vic using Pauline Fowler’s doorstop, after confronting him alongside Zoe Slater and Sam Mitchell about his various misdeeds. Chrissy manipulated Zoe into believing she had killed Den by punching him during their confrontation, though Chrissy was the one who delivered the fatal blow.

After Sharon discovered Chrissy was the true m.u.r.d.e.r.e.r, .s.h.e played a critical role in bringing her to justice, even slapping Chrissy at the airport as she tried to flee the country. Now, 19 years later, the two women are set to meet again. It’s clear that Chrissy has the upper hand in prison. Viewers saw how she already had the prison guards on her side, with one even delivering cigarettes to her cell at the end of Friday’s episode.

Sharon Faces Serious Consequences

Sharon Watts has been left facing major consequences during Dean Wicks’ trial in the latest episode. The trial for Keanu Taylor’s m.u.r.d.e.r begins this week, and the “Six” are desperate to conceal the truth—that Linda Carter is the real culprit. Both Sharon and Linda were worried about the trial, but Phil reassured them they could get through it.

Suki and Kathy were eager to attend the trial, concerned that someone might make a mistake, while Denise was at the hospital with Amy but promised to make an appearance. Stacey was the first to give evidence. Though she struggled with the questioning, she followed Mo’s humorous advice to pretend she didn’t hear the defense’s questions to buy herself more time to think.

When Sharon took the stand, Johnny tried to calm Linda about her upcoming court appearance, advising her to keep her answers simple and warning that Dean’s defense would try to catch her off guard. Sharon explained how she falsely accused Dean of threatening Keanu, leading to Dean’s courtroom outburst. His defense lawyer exploited Keanu’s kidnapping of Albie and the realization on Christmas Day that Albie wasn’t his son—events that happened just hours before Keanu’s death—to discredit both Sharon and Keanu.

Bernie broke down in tears and accused Sharon of being the real m.u.r.d.e.r.e.r before fleeing the courtroom. The defense then used Sharon’s past, including her connections to Phil and Grant Mitchell and her four marriages, to undermine her credibility. Upset by the sexist remarks, Sharon shouted at the judge, who held her in contempt of court for her outburst.

Linda arrived at the court, horrified to see Sharon being restrained by the guards. “The lawyer got to me,” Sharon told Linda, warning her not to let the same thing happen to her. “Stay strong, because now this is all your responsibility.” The pressure became too much for Linda, and she fled the court as the rest of the “Six” watched.
