Fans of Coronation Street are speculating that Sarah Platt, portrayed by Tina O’Brien, is on the brink of a scandalous affair that will shatter her daughter Bethany’s life. In Friday’s episode (August 23), Sarah found herself in hot water as she was summoned to the police station for an interrogation by DS Swain, played by Victoria Myers.
As regular viewers of the ITV soap will know, the detective is trying to unravel who is behind the assault on Lauren Bolton, played by Caitlin Fitton, who was left fighting for her life. Lauren has identified abusive Joel Deering, played by Callum Lill, as the father of her newborn son, but the villain denies any involvement.
In the meantime, Nathan Curtis, played by Christopher Harper, remains behind bars, charged with Lauren’s disappearance. During her police interview, Sarah refuted allegations of planting Lauren’s DNA in Nathan’s van, which served as evidence leading to his arrest.
After exiting the station, Sarah implored Daniel Osbourne, played by Rob Mallard, to convince her daughter Bethany to abandon her crusade against Nathan.
Daniel subsequently questioned police officer Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, about the possibility of the evidence against Nathan being planted, only to be warned not to make accusations. He then pointed the finger at Daniel’s girlfriend Bethany for interfering in the case, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Later, Daniel confided in Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan, expressing his distrust towards newcomer Kit and voicing his suspicion that something about Nathan’s conviction doesn’t add up.
Despite the controversy swirling around Lauren’s situation, sharp-eyed Coronation Street fans reckon there’s a sizzle brewing between Sarah and her daughter’s partner Daniel.
One avid Corrie viewer took to Reddit with a theory: “Sarah and Daniel. They have had at least 2 scenes together which means only one thing….affair! I’m calling it! “.
Chipping into the speculation, another fan responded: “Yeah definitely, they do a screen chemistry test and unfortunately Sarah seems to be hot with everyone! “.
Adding to the gossip, a third agreed: “That’s what I was thinking”, as yet another added: “You put the idea out into the world, so now it’s going to happen! “.
One more fan confessed: “I thought this yesterday too, they do look good together lol”.
