General Hospital spoilers tease that FBI Agent John Cates (Adam Harrington) won’t let go of his hated for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard).
Cates blames Sonny for corrupting Karen Wexler (Cari Shayne), getting her addicted to drugs and becoming a stripper. Cates and Karen were married but Cates cheated on her at Karen later died after returning to Port Charles alone. But rather than own up to his own role in hurting Karen, Cates is obsessed with making Sonny pay.

Cates has teamed up with Ava Jerome (Maura West) who has her own issues with Sonny. Recently, Ava had a terrible confrontation with Sonny’s daughter, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) in Ava’s hotel room.
During their intense confrontation, Kristina slipped and fell through a window down several stories into the Metro Court pool. Although the photographic evidence initially made it look like Ava pushed Kristina, Cates says the photos could tell a different story.

The pictures could just as easily indicate that Kristina was the instigator and that she attacked Ava. Cates says that since Ava was a material witness in an FBI investigation against Sonny, Kristina came to the hotel room with the intent to kill Ava.
Cates is stretching the truth quite a bit with that accusation because Ava had never agreed to testify against Sonny. But either way, Cates arrested Kristina for the attack on Ava even though it was Kristina who was hurt.

But Sonny doesn’t really want Kristina. He wants Sonny to go to prison for the rest of his life. So look for him to offer Sonny a deal. If Sonny confesses to enough crimes to put himself in prison, then Cates will let Kristina go.
For Sonny, there’s not a choice. There’s no way he would let Kristina go to prison if he had any way to keep it from happening. Their only hope is to find a way to stop both Cates and Ava once and for all.
