Emmerdale’s Nicola King, played by Nicola Wheeler, could be on the brink of a shocking affair, much to the dismay of fans.
The character has been a mainstay in the soap since 2001 and has certainly seen her fair share of drama in the Dales.
Earlier this year, she was left reeling when it was revealed that her daughter Angelica (Rebecca Bakes) was behind the car crash.
That resulted in the death of Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling).
After confessing to her role in Heath’s untimely demise, Angelica was sentenced to eight months in a Secure Children’s Home.
It later transpired that she was being relocated to a home in Bristol a considerable four-hour drive from the village.
Since then, Nicola and Jimmy (Nick Miles), Angelica’s parents, have been understandably concerned and hoped for an early release if their daughter behaved well but recent events have dashed those hopes, reports the Express.
In the latest episodes, the worried parents were informed that Angelica’s behaviour has been deteriorating – a revelation that shocked them. They had been anticipating Angelica’s return home this week.
However, they were informed that her return was postponed due to her involvement in a fight. To their astonishment, they discovered that it was actually Angelica who instigated the altercation.
During Thursday’s episode (August 15), an emotional Nicola broke down in tears in front of Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw).
Nicola shared her fears with Bob in a touching moment, confessing her anxiety about whether Angel might grow up to be a “violent thug.”
The scene between Bob and Nicola has set tongues wagging among fans, with speculation rife that an affair may be on the cards, leaving viewers less than thrilled.
Fans took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to air their predictions and frustrations. One viewer speculated: “I’m thinking that they are going to try and push for a Nicola and Bob affair down the line or one of them will misread the signals?”
While another expressed their displeasure bluntly: “Bob and Nicola better not have an affair,” and was echoed by another fan who commented: “It looked that way tbh. I saw it coming a mile away.”
