Coronation Street Tracy Barlow is set to return to Weatherfield in upcoming scenes and fans are now speculating she might be out to commit murder on the cobbles.
Soap icon Tracy, played by Kate Ford, waved goodbye to Weatherfield back in April after getting involved in a steamy tryst with her beau Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn). After a messy break up with her hubby Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), she upped sticks for a fresh start under the Spanish sun with Tommy.
While she’s been soaking up rays, a downcast Steve has been playing the field, hitting the dating scene and even rekindling an old spark with ex-flame Demi during Monday’s episode aired on 12 August. Not just that he’s also been cosying up to newcomer Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney).
Meanwhile, their daughter, Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), has found herself tangled in the twisted cult storyline. Remember Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), who’s been sucked into a shady “self-help” group spearheaded by the creepy Rowan (Emrhys Cooper)?
Well, now Amy’s been roped in too, reports the Liverpool Echo. The troupe is secretly eyeing Amy’s savings without her or Leanne’s knowledge, but the plot is about to thicken later this week when Tracy storms back onto the scene.
Die-hard fans have their money on Tracy coming back to put a stop to The Institute and rescue Amy, maybe going as far as to off cult boss Rowan. However, whispers on the street hint she might just snuff out a completely different character.
Corrie fans have taken to social media with a theory that Tracy Barlow, who previously murdered her husband Charlie Stubbs, could be about to ruin one of ex-husband Steve’s new relationships.
On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “Tracy will return and see Steve’s new bird, and kill her.” Another fan wrote: “We all know EXACTLY what Tracy is capable of! ” A third added: “Plot twist! Still hope Tracy and Steve get back together at some point.”
One more fan declared: “If Tracy comes back to find Steve and Cassie bumping uglies, oh my! It won’t end well.” A fifth suggested: “Think she will come back for Steve and when she finds out about his dates and Cassie, she will hit the roof.”
