Emmerdale newcomer Oliver Farnworth, has hinted at a dramatic turn of events for his character John Sugden.
The 42 year old actor made his first appearance on the popular ITV soap on Wednesday evening, where his character John was unveiled as Aaron Dingle’s new romantic interest.
The pair had arranged to go out, but Aaron encountered John by the roadside, needing help with his car.
After Aaron fixed the vehicle, the two shared a passionate moment, which quickly turned into a roadside tryst.
However, John hastily departed the scene, taking with him Aaron’s possessions and Eric Pollard’s car keys.
In Thursday night’s episode, Eric’s car failed, preventing him from attending an old friend’s funeral so Victoria Sugden kindly stepped in to drive him there.
But once at the church, Victoria inadvertently offended the grieving son at his mother’s funeral, only to be shocked when she learned his name is John Sugden.
Later, Eric awkwardly revealed that John could potentially be her half-brother and the son of her late father Jack Sugden, reports the Mirror.
In an unexpected twist, Mackenzie Boyd received a call about a nearby breakdown back in the village, and it turned out to be John. Eric and Victoria were taken aback to find John in the village, and his arrival soon stirred up some tension among the locals.
On Thursday’s Lorraine, guest host Christine Lampard spoke to Oliver, who portrays John on the show, and he teased the future of his character: “His opening gambit is pretty strong from last night’s episode and then as we can see from the clip today we find out a lot about him quite early on.
“But there’s a really enigmatic side to him as well. I’ve been filming for two months now and there’s a lot of stuff I can’t talk about but really that is the tip of the iceberg because it’s an absolute rollercoaster”, he added. “There’s a lot to come, there’s a lot to come!”
