Emmerdale devotees have spotted a significant ‘issue’ with the latest love interest of newcomer John Sugden in the hit ITV drama.

Oliver Farnworth, who brought the character John Sugden to life, made his first appearance on the show during the broadcast on Wednesday (August 7).

Sparking much conversation among viewers.

In the episode, Aaron Dingle, portrayed by Danny Miller, borrowed a car from Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) for a clandestine rendezvous.

On his way, Aaron unexpectedly stops to assist the enigmatic John Sugden, whose van had broken down. 

Recognising each other from a dating app, things quickly escalated to an intimate encounter by the van.

After indulging in their impromptu intimacy, Aaron tried to delve deeper into John’s life, but John remained withdrawn, reports the Express.

But Aaron’s discovery turned sour when, after a brief pause roadside, he found himself stranded by John, who absconded with Aaron’s belongings.

Yet it’s not just the theft that has Emmerdale fans feeling uneasy – speculation abounds that John might be the brother of Victoria (Isabel Hodgins). Should a romantic plotline between John and Aaron develop, it would entangle him with the ex of his presumed sibling, Robert.

One viewer voiced their alarm on an Emmerdale Facebook fan group: “Aaron is going to fall for the new guy, Robert and Victoria half brother. Talk about keeping it in the family!”. One disappointed viewer commented: “I’m not happy with this,” followed by another’s sombre prediction: “It’ll all end in tears…it usually does.”

Mirroring their sentiments, a third person added: “Can’t wait to see Aaron’s reaction when he finds out, let’s just hope it’s not a full relationship.”

Meanwhile, a fifth outspoken fan declared: “Aaron’s getting with John and to realise he’s a Sugden? Honestly, this soap is just so dead.”
