GH News: In response to fan backlash over John Cate’s drawn-out storyline, GH’s writers have decided to put an end to John! Are they subtly suggesting that John will d.i.e in the next episode?

‘General Hospital’ Fans Beg For New Writers

General Hospital fans are begging for there to be a writer shakeup on the soap opera. Recently, viewers have had several complaints about the soap’s storylines and the characters being killed off or brought back. Here is why viewers are begging for new writers.

General Hospital Fans Groaning Over The Current Storyline

GH shared a clip from Friday’s episode on Instagram. The tense scene involved a dramatic confrontation, but some fans seem to be over this storyline already.

Several people took to the comments to air their grievances and blast the writers while they were at it. “Why did you bring this other actor as Jagger?!?” one person questioned. “Once again you are giving us another story that’s going on forever and is just round and round with no end in sight.”

Another fan commented, “These new writers were let go after only a few weeks, hoping the old writers scripts are coming soon.”

A third critic chimed in, “These (storylines) are so unlike their characters that it’s bizarre; especially Willow. Soon, we will see the GH that sets (itself) apart from other soaps and win Emmys. Frank Valentini must be excited to have his old excellent writers back.”

Other people were trying to make sense of some of the current story. One person asked, “What is up with Molly and TJ and the totally unrealistic reaction to her saying nothing about the baby?” They continued, stating that they rarely have anything negative to say about General Hospital but they found this reaction to be “unrealistic and stupid.”

Yet another viewer pointed out that the “ratings are so low” due to the entire soap opera revolving around Carly and Sonny. “Stunt casts won’t help fix this bizarre imbalance,” they concluded. More people commented, complaining about how the current storylines feel “dragged out.”

Viewers Complain About Casting & Want Agent Cates Gone

On top of not being impressed with the storylines recently, fans have been complaining about the cast as well. There have been several casting shakeups that many viewers don’t agree with.

Fans were shocked to learn that Michael Easton was leaving the long-running soap opera. He announced his departure on Instagram 24 hours before his final episode aired.

Although they are bringing back a few fan-favorite characters, including Lucky Spencer and Lulu, there is one person viewers wish the writers would get rid of ASAP. That’s Agent Cates (Jagger).

Agent Cates was first introduced on General Hospital in the 1990s. He appeared on the soap from 1992 to 1995 and also popped up in 2008 on General Hospital: Night Shift. The character made an unexpected return earlier this year. However, fans are ready to see him go already.

“Cates needs to go now,” one fan wrote under a teaser for the soap. “Can they please exit John Cates [sic] character now. Such a boring storyline that is just dragging on,” another person begged. A third person said “Enough with Cates” and asked for more Tracy and Ned instead. Another fan said they would “not support this show today while you have that man on there.”

Will General Hospital make the necessary writer shakeups to renew interest with fans?
