Coronation Street fans have suggested Jack Webster’s newly-explored link in Weatherfield could be behind his shock act as he admitted to being behind the fire at Stefen Brent’s office.
As viewers of the ITV soap, Stefan recently found his way back into Abi Webster’s life, years after his son Corey was jailed for her son Seb Franklin’s murder.
Abi and her husband Kevin have been embroiled in an ongoing feud with the businessman after the former tried to put a stop to the documentary highlighting Corey
as a football star while behind bars. It led to Stefan wanting revenge and he’s since been behind deepfake porn videos of Abi circulating.
Kevin later broke into Stefan’s office to obtain evidence that he was behind the deepfakes, stealing a burner phone.
After coming to a deal, Stefan agreed to pay to take down the videos, but after learning it would cost £60k annually, he backed out leaving Abi and Kevin back at square one.
During Monday night’s (July 29) trip to Weatherfield, Kevin and Abi were upset to discover Jack was being teased over the videos, forcing them to explain what had been going on and who they believed was behind it.
Suddenly, Stefan phoned Kevin and requested a meeting so they can put an end to their feud. However, it was all part of Stefan’s plan as while Kevin and Abi headed to his office for their meeting, Jack innocently answered the door to Stefan, unaware of who he was, and let him wait until his parents were home.
Stefan managed to send Jack out for milk so he could have a cup of tea and whilst alone, he rummaged through the drawers of the Webster’s empty home. Later, Abi and Kevin returned home, puzzled by Stefan’s no-show but when Jack revealed a man called round, they realised it was all part of Stefan’s plan to get them out of the way and steal back his mobile phone.
Later, Corrie viewers saw PC Craig Tinker arrest Kevin on suspicion of burglary of Stefan’s property. At home, Kevin told his family that he had no choice but to hold his hands up to the charge and has a plea hearing next week. But the episode ended with Abi, who had gone out, returning home to find Kevin looking at news report of a fire at Stefan’s office building, for which she didn’t show any sympathy.
However, during Wednesday’s (July 31) Corrie, viewers learnt that it was in fact Jack who was behind the arson. He admitted to just wanting to trash Stefan’s car, however, the fire started has spread to the office with Stefan inside and Abi claimed he ‘could have died’.
While Kevin was horrified by Jack’s revelation, he still attempted to shield his son by admitting guilt to the authorities. DS Lisa Swain didn’t buy Kevin’s confession, and shortly afterwards, Jack turned up at the station, where he was detained upon making a full admission.
And it didn’t take Corrie fans long to point out Jack’s blossoming friendship with Hope Stape, with recent spoilers revealing the latter will look at going on the pill as her lust for her fellow teen heats up. The Talk of the Street, aka @corriepodcast, said: “Jack and Hope have been spending a bit of time together lately. I’m just saying. #corrie #justsaying.”
