In Monday’s Emmerdale episode on July 29, Belle Dingle finally realizes her husband Tom King’s abusive behavior. However, Tom continues to manipulate everyone around him, making her ordeal far from over. When Charity and Cain arrived at the secluded cottage where Tom had taken Belle, ostensibly for a vacation, they discovered she had vanished. In reality, Tom had intended to make the move permanent.
As Tom’s actions grew more violent, Belle’s fear escalated. She managed to escape and return to Wishing Well, where her family provided safety. However, Tom concocted a different story, claiming Belle wasn’t taking her medication and falsely stating she had an abortion, which he misrepresented as a miscarriage. Most of the community believes Tom is just a loving husband trying to care for his challenging wife, which has given his story significant traction.
Belle, on the other hand, has been reluctant to confide in anyone, including Vinnie, due to his previous misstep of disclosing her abortion during a heated argument with Tom at the Woolpack. Tom, always envious of Belle and Vinnie’s friendship, used this as an excuse to launch another attack, this time on his aunt Nicola King. He expressed to Nicola his sadness over Belle’s supposed quick transition to a relationship with Vinnie.
Nicola, known for spreading rumors without verifying them, quickly shared this information with Laurel. Tom seized the opportunity to express his gratitude and suggested moving in with Nicola and his uncle Jimmy. Despite Nicola’s reluctance, Tom is expected to move in with them. Concurrently, he invited Belle back to their home, reminding her of his control over their finances when her card was declined.

He then tells Belle she can return to their previous home, making it seem like a kind gesture. When Belle seeks help from a mental health professional, she begins to realize the extent of Tom’s abuse.
