Emmerdale star Paula Lane has confirmed Ella Forster’s future on the hit ITV soap ahead of a baby twist.

Earlier this month, the hit ITV soap aired Ella’s dramatic return to the village just weeks on after her killer secret was exposed and she scarpered from The Dales, leaving love interest Liam Cavanagh rocked. Taking to Instagram recently, actress Paula, who plays Ella, posted a picture of herself in character as she penned: “Oh Ella…whatever next?! I can confirm a new contract signed today for moi. Very happy to be calling @emmerdale my second home for the next chapter.”

It comes ahead of a twist for Ella next week. Soap fans will recall that as part of Ella’s return, she was involved in a horror car crash as Dawn Fletcher crashed her vehicle after she was accidentally spiked by her estranged mother Rose Jackson. Later at the hospital Ella was left tearful as she realised she had no one to come support her in the ward. However, in a sweet surprise, Mandy showed up after learning from Sam about the car crash. It wasn’t long until Ella confided in her friend, revealing: “It turns out, I’m pregnant…” as Mandy was left stunned over the bombshell. Later, Mandy asked: “So it’s definitely Liam’s then?” with Ella confirming: “There’s no one else it could be!”

Last week saw Ella tell Liam that she was pregnant and he didn’t take the news well. After blurting out the news to the pub, he then forced Ella to do a pregnancy test, in a bid to prove her pregnancy, and in a cruel twist he demanded she have a termination. On Friday’s episode, Ella insisted she was going through with her pregnancy no matter what and the episode ended with Liam demanding that she take a paternity test, to prove he is in fact the father with Ella reluctantly agreeing.

Next week sees pregnant Ella invite Mandy to join her at the scan, where she’s also planing to have a paternity test for Liam. Later, Ella is at work when she starts having stomach cramps and Liam checks her over. The next day, Paddy tries to reach out to Liam ahead of Ella’s scan.

Liam wants to join Ella at the scan but she refuses. However, in true soap style, when things go wrong with her transport, Liam ends up taking her to the scan. However, when the sonographer takes the reading, there’s a problem as no foetus can be found. Before an explanation can be offered, Liam is accusing Ella of hoodwinking him, claiming she has lied about a baby and that is why she didn’t want him at the scan.

Later, in the village, Paddy consoles Liam who is aghast Ella could have stooped so low as to have pretended there was a baby, thinking she is truly unhinged and evil. But is there more to this than meets the eye?
