Two massive ITV soap operas are facing huge schedule shake-ups because of the Olympics.

Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be facing some confusion, with ITV even issuing a massive warning.
As the Olympics air this summer, soap fans will have to make a big decision if they want to keep up with the sporting events while getting their nightly soap fix.
Just like the BBC and iPlayer with EastEnders, ITV will now upload Corrie and Emmerdale to ITVX prior to the episodes airing on television in the evening.

The announcement was made on the official social media accounts of both long-running soap operas.

The tweets posted on X were identical and read: “We’re giving you a little treat this summer whilst the Olympics are on.

On each day of transmission, you can find Corrie and Emmerdale episodes on ITVX at 7am! But remember to keep this a spoiler free zone for those watching in the evenings.”
One person took to X to say: “Should be doing this all the time IMO.” A second then echoed: “This needs to be a permanent thing. All the other soaps are releasing their episodes early every week.” While a third added: “Please consider doing this all the time. One of the reasons My Mum stopped watching the soaps is because she likes her evenings free.”
Another then fumed: “Copying EastEnders.” While a fifth praised: “The convenience really makes a difference when you work unsociable hours – thanks, if successful, please consider it as a permanent feature, except during big stories/episodes that have to be viewed as a nation together.” And a sixth person questioned why when they wrote: “Sorry but not sure how there’s a link haha isnt the Olympics only on the BBC and there’s no change to ITV at all.”

The ITV shake up comes after BBC’s beloved magazine programme, The One Show, was dramatically yanked off the air by bosses as hosts said a fond farewell last week ahead of a summer break for weeks. As the 2024 Olympic Games start up in Paris, BBC bosses have decided to favour coverage of the sporting event rather than the fan-favourite magazine show. Usually, fans of the fun-loving show tune in each evening at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, but last Thursday’s episode was the final one for a couple of weeks.
The show, which is headed up by Alex Jones, Roman Kemp, Jermaine Jenas and Ronan Keating, is taking a “summer break” as the BBC prepares for the Olympics to take over. Hosting the show last week, Roman announced: “Enjoy the Olympics, see you on the 12th of August.” Then, Alex added: “Bye, have a nice summer,” and the show came to an end.
