Joel has more to think about than most grooms-to-be, of course.

He’s also dealing with the inconvenient problem of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), the girl he abused and almost killed and who is now pregnant with his baby.
With Lauren having been missing and presumed dead for much of this year, she recently returned to the show in a shock twist and revealed that she’s expecting Joel’s baby.
He, of course, was most concerned about saving his own skin and persuaded Lauren to say that Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) was the person who attacked her.

In return, Lauren wanted his help to move to Ireland and start a new life, with Joel footing the bill for the flight and somewhere to stay.

He agreed to this, especially after Lauren revealed that she’d prepared an email to DS Lisa Swain.

Explaining everything that had gone on and naming Joel as the person who attacked her. This email is set to automatically send in a month unless her demands are met.
Viewers have seen that Joel has been researching drugs that can induce labour, suggesting that he has sinister plans for Lauren and her baby – the baby that she desperately wants to keep.
But while he’s not scheming to do awful things, there’s still the public-facing side of Joel and he has to keep up the pretence that he’s a perfect normal, perfectly lovely man.

But with finances at a stretch because of having to secretly pay for Lauren, his resources are running out. He tells Dee-Dee that she needs to rein back the wedding budget, and blames his divorce expenses.
Having to compromise Dee-Dee’s happiness doesn’t go down well with Joel, and he accelerates his plans to deal with the troublesome problem of Lauren Bolton once and for all.
Will she manage to escape this time?
