SHOCK! Ben Mitchell will return to EastEnders, determined to stop Tommy's sinister behavior that threatens his mother, Kat!

EastEnders have given fans an update about Ben Mitchell after Max Bowden’s sad exit from the soap.

Max Bowden departed his role earlier this year after becoming the sixth actor to play Ben. He held the role for five years, with the likes of Matthew Silver (1996-1998), Morgan Whittle (1999 – 2001), Charlie Jones (2006 – 2010), Joshua Pascoe (2010 – 2012) and Harry Reid (2014 – 2018) also all having held the role across the years.

Taking to social media, he wrote at the time: “It’s been one hell of a ride! Thanks for taking Ben to your hearts and allowing my version into your lives. I had an amazing five years at @bbceastenders and learnt a hell of a lot about myself and the craft I love so dearly; it got me through some very hard personal times and I will be forever grateful!

I really will never be able to thank everybody for the support enough, because the fans of the show are so passionate, caring, and invested and it enables us as actors to want to keep going and always be better; so I really do from the bottom of my heart appreciate every single person who has sent any sort of positivity my way over the last five years – I love you all.”

Next week, Kathy, Ian and Lexi will head to America to visit Ben, but that leaves Callum upset as he isn’t able to join them because he can’t get time off work. He’s gutted but Johnny insists he wants to help cheer him up.

Whilst Johnny encourages him to go out, Callum is left upset when he misses a call from Ben. Honey suggests they go for a drink and in a heart to heart, she tells him that he needs to live his life and urges him to go out with Johnny. He decides to follow Honey’s advice but when Billy sees them getting ready, he makes a comment that it hasn’t taken Callum long to move on, leaving him horrified.

Could this mention of Ben lead to a huge return for Max Bowden – or could one of the previous actors re-take on the role? Dayle Hudson was the last person to play Peter, leaving in 2022 whilst Ben Hardy had the role before.
