Coronation Street fans were left distracted as they spotted an ‘odd’ detail about villain Joel Deering and Lauren Bolton on Monday night.

Viewers will recall that Lauren made a shock comeback earlier this month as Cait Fitton reprised her role. Weeks on from a brutal attack by Joel, which Weatherfield residents still don’t know about, Lauren, who was believed to be dead, was revealed to be alive as she headed to the hospital to visit Roy Cropper after he suffered a heart attack weeks on from him being wrongly imprisoned for Lauren’s ‘m.u.r.d.e.r’.

And things only got more explosive when Joel confronted Lauren at the hospital, forcing her into a family room and pleading with her not to reveal what happened. As violent and evil Joel went to lash out again, Lauren protected her stomach revealing she was five months pregnant with his baby in a huge bombshell before fleeing the hospital.

Last week, Joel’s fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey and Bethany Platt managed to track down the missing teen at a squat after retracing her bank statements, where she had been fraudulently using Bethany’s old company credit card. An oblivious Dee-Dee, who is unaware that her husband-to-be is evil, let Joel know as he raced to the scene and discovered Lauren before the duo, where she fainted in his arms.

It was then that Dee-Dee and Bethany discovered her too, insisting she go to hospital to be checked over, believing she’ll be safe there. However, it wasn’t long until Joel spoke to Lauren privately as he demanded she lie to the police, warning her to say it was Nathan Curtis who a.t.t.a.c.k.e.d h.e.r, insisting she say that she made a huge mistake and didn’t want to take things further.

Coming up with a backstory, Joel even suggested she pretend Nathan was a subscriber on O-Vidz before things got messy between them. Lauren didn’t want to lie but Joel cruelly pointed out she has no one, promising her a flat and that she could call the shots in their relationship. It wasn’t long until DS Swain, who has been in charge of Lauren’s case, arrived at the hospital to which Joel escaped.

On Friday’s episode, Lauren lied to DS Swain, pretending it was Nathan but she wanted to drop charges. Later, Joel paid for a hotel for Lauren to stay in but soon had bad news. Joel revealed that his ex-wife Emily wanted half of his money in the divorce and her lawyers were making him submit bank statements for the last 12 months. Joel pointed out he couldn’t have anything dodgy on record and took Lauren to a flat, saying she could stay at the empty property until arranging travel to Ireland for her.

Lauren then revealed her own trick on Joel, warning that she had scheduled sent an email to DS Swain incriminating him in case he lied about Ireland or k.i.l.l.e.d h.e.r off. Later, Joel showed Lauren booked tickets to Ireland, revealing she was flying out on 12 August and he had three weeks to sort everything out. However, later on, Joel’s real sick plan was revealed as he was seen searching on his laptop: “What drugs can induce premature labour”.

On Monday night, Joel was left concerned as he learnt Dee-Dee’s family wanted to help him move a chest of drawers from his old flat, where he’s hiding Lauren. In a bid to get Lauren out the flat, Joel handed her a wad of cash to go shopping. However, the solicitor was left panicked when Lauren didn’t return and instead came back to the flat much later than planned, leaving him furious.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were left confused as to how Joel, who is being careful with his money amid his divorce, was able to hand over cash to Lauren. Elsewhere, other fans were baffled as to why Lauren fled the cobbles for months but is now happily living in Joel’s old flat.

One person said: “Joel supposedly has to watch what he’s spending, but he’s given Lauren cash twice in 1 day? #Corrie”, a different account put: “So Lauren was so terrified of Joel she couldn’t come back and help Roy but now she can be alone with him all time? doesn’t make sense #corrie”, another wrote: “So scared of him, she had to flee for months and now she’s living in his flat” while a different viewer put: “I’m not getting it …. Lauren had caused havoc for months and now she’s acting like nothings happened and Joel is her Bessie mate … and she’s taking his money!!! #Corrie.”
