CORONATION Street fans were left shocked when one its stars made a surprise comeback to TV after almost 20 years since quitting soap.
Viewers couldn’t believe their eyes when the actor appeared on a recent episode of Emmerdale
Actor Trevor Dwyer-Lynch is best known to fans of Coronation Street for his role as hapless cabbie Patrick Tussel between 2001 and 2005.
Fast-forward almost 20 years and he was seen playing a prison warden looking after banged up Matty Barton.
During Wednesday’s episode Trevor’s character was seen helping Matty after he got into trouble with another prisoner in his cell.
Many fans took to social media to express their shock at seeing the former Corrie star.
One posted: “Looking good! Street Cars Patrick turned prison warden in Emmerdale.”
While another said: “Patrick the cabbie in Emmerdale tonight as a prison guard.”
With a third replying: “Yeah I spotted him too.”
And a fourth added: “I thought he looked familiar.”
During his time on Corrie, Trevor’s character became a firm fan favourite as he became romantically involved with Janice Battersby (Vicky Entwistle).
The cabbie also provided some light hearted comedy as he got into numerous scrapes with Janice’s ex husband Les Battersby (Bruce Jones).
Patrick bid farewell to the cobbles of Weatherfield after Trevor decided to bow out the role in early 2005.
Since exiting the show, the actor has had small roles in shows including The Bill, Casualty and The Royal.
Meanwhile, Trevor popping up in the soap comes after the soap hinted that another Sugden will make a shock return to the village.
Emmerdale has revealed that a long-lost relative of Victoria Sugden will be arriving in the village later this year.
Bosses on the long-running soap have cast former Coronation Street star Oliver Farnworth to play their brand new Sugden – and he’s set to be the village’s next hunk.
Oliver, 41, is best known by soap fans for playing doomed Andy Carver.
The waiter was brutally m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d by Pat Phelan during his reign of terror on the cobbles in 2017.
But now seven years on Oliver will return to screens as John Sugden in Emmerdale.
His arrival will send shock waves through Yorkshire Dales – especially for Victoria Sugden – who is the only remaining family member in the village.
Speaking about joining Emmerdale, Oliver said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.
“The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that. I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”
Producer Laura Shaw added: “We are thrilled to have an actor with Oliver’s talent and presence join the Emmerdale family.
“The Sugden’s have always been central to Emmerdale, and introducing a new member opens up exciting possibilities for future storylines.
“Mysterious John’s arrival will no doubt create a stir in the village for Victoria and the wider community.”
However could it also herald the return of another Sugden – Diane.
Diane left the village three years ago for a new life in Portugal but has popped back for the odd visit to see stepdaughter Victoria.
Could she return for another stint to discover just who this John is and what connection he has to her family?
