Lauren’s pregnancy was confirmed when she returned to Weatherfield a few weeks ago. 

The father of her baby is Joel (Calum Lill), who started a toxic relationship with Lauren earlier this year.

While visiting Roy (David Neilson) in hospital, Lauren was confronted by Joel. 

After we learnt more about the real solicitor, he went to attack Lauren again, but she stopped him by blurting out her pregnancy.

Becoming a father to Lauren’s baby was something Joel absolutely didn’t plan. 

In upcoming episodes though, everything could change once more as Lauren starts to experience severe stomach pains.

During an afternoon with Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), Joel tells her to watch their wedding budget because his divorce is proving costly. A little while later, when Joel brings his young daughter Maeve to the flat, Dee-Dee comments on how he’s born to be a father.

Things then take another dramatic turn as Lauren texts Joel and reveals there’s a leak at the flat. Because Dee-Dee has to go to court, Joel is left with no choice but to take Maeve with him.

Later in the week, Dee-Dee collects a parcel but is puzzled when she realises it’s addressed to an E Smith. Meanwhile, Joel visits Lauren and assures her she’ll be moving to Ireland very soon.

As he discovers Dee-Dee has taken in the all-important parcel, Joel plots to get rid of Lauren for good.

At the flat, Lauren is seen doubling over in pain, clutching her stomach.

Having tracked her location, Max (Paddy Bever) arrives and bangs on the door. Lauren calls out to him, terrified she is losing the baby, but what will happen next?

Was this part of Joel’s plan all along?

‘One thing we definitely know from this is that he is very selfish,’ Calum Lill pondered. ‘He puts his own self-interest above all else, and he seems to lack the empathy that regular people have.

‘So, when you add all of them together, I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of him yet. And who knows where that’s going to go?’

‘I obviously can’t say, but my ideal one would be drag it out as long as possible because it’s such a nice place to work and everyone’s so amazing’, he added when asked about the duration of this storyline.

‘So, I’d just rather it take as long as possible, whatever it is, and spend more time with amazing people. Everyone here has been incredible, in front and behind the camera.

‘I obviously can’t say – I don’t know how it ends! But they can take as long as they want, I’m happy with that!’
