Unsurprisingly, Ella doesn’t have many fans after the story of her bashing her childhood friend’s head in hit the local gossip mongers.
After fleeing the village, she returned for her belongings and sneaked into Liam’s cottage to retrieve them.
But was discovered by Mandy (Lisa Riley), who was left torn by seeing her former pal so low.
As if Ella’s luck wasn’t already rock bottom, as she attempts to leave the village following her run-in with Mandy.
She ends up in a car accident, meaning her only source of shelter and transport becomes compromised.
So, it looks like she might be stuck in the village a while longer, much to Tracy’s (Amy Walsh) chagrin.
Tracy made her feelings quite clear about Ella after learning about her deadly deed, by accosting Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) and berating her for hiring a child killer in the first place.
Tracy then handed in her notice as a patient at the surgery and vowed to seek medical care elsewhere.
Manpreet was agog, particularly as Ella has already been given her marching orders, but Tracy was adamant that the hiring of a violent ex con was enough to permanently shake her trust in Manpreet’s sense of judgement.
Now that Ella is back in town, and with Tracy increasingly fed up with her lot in life (failed marriage, failed attempt at a nursery business), she turns on Ella.
She begins rebuking her for her suitability as the surgery receptionist. Jealousy is an ugly look on Tracy. But as she goes after Ella, how far will she take it?
It seems like Ella just can’t catch a break. After the scandal of her past actions rocked the village, she now finds herself in the middle of a tangled web of drama and turmoil.
